In fact, if you study environmental issues in college, you might have even written a very well-researched paper on 'The Truth About Global Warming,' or 'Global Pollution.' But it's also possible to turn the topic around and look at conservation in a new light.
A paper that looks at water conservation through an environmental angle is much more interesting and engaging than a typical 'conservation' essay. It requires more thought and research. And this should be encouraged, as long as you don't overdo it. Take a look at a popular book on 'Greening the World' by Jane Goodall. The book features a graphic image of a chimpanzee mother care for her children in the rain forest. In fact, water conservation projects often involve cleaning up rivers and lakes. In some countries, there is actually legislation in place that allows for those projects to be funded by the government. If you have the funds and the time, why not use high-tech tools that allow you to study ecosystems? Imagine looking at soil, fish, plants and trees from the perspective of a biologist. How does this relate to 'green' issues? One example of a persuasive essay on 'Water Conservation Through Environmentalism' is as follows: The author explores how the global supply of fresh water is being depleted by pollution, population growth and rapid industrialization. She analyzes how modern day solutions to the problem of water scarcity are essentially useless because they only address surface-level problems. You must get this right. If you ignore the problem of surface pollution you may just be making yourself and your students stupid, or just plain lazy. On the other hand, if you tell your readers that the solution to this is to look at water issues from an ecological perspective, you could just be teaching them what they already know. Thus, the importance of considering all angles. It's pretty obvious that the authors of the book mentioned above had a bit of a twist on this theme - so instead of going after a one-size-fits-all solution to all the pollution and overuse of our world's resources, they went after something called a 'home water filter.' We may think that the water purification industry is a dirty industry. But it is merely doing its job. There are many different ways that we can research, understand and present information to our readers. So consider taking the water conservation angle.
